Colors to Make a Room Look Bigger

  1. White

  2. Charcoal

  3. Gray Beige

  4. Ice Blue

  5. Black

White

Ah, the marvelous wonders of white! When it comes to creating an illusion of spaciousness, white takes the crown with its natural prowess. It's like a magician waving a wand and voilà, the room suddenly feels bigger. It's no secret that light colors hold the power to expand our visual horizons, especially when blessed with abundant natural light. And bohemian lace, eggshell or satin finishes are the secret ingredients in this magical recipe.

More often than not, we want to design with colors that make a space feel bigger and brighter than they actually are. One great paint for this is Sherwin William's Bohemian Lace. It truly gives a room a light open feeling but has a warmness too. You can brighten it up by modernizing the furnishing and finishes or you can downplay it with darker accents to really make the walls pop. It can be used in any room in the home. Colors that give a bright feeling are ones that make a space more inviting and help rooms feel more spacious.

Charcoal

Who said small rooms can't handle the richness of charcoal? Buckle up, because dark colors have a hidden superpower - they can actually make your space look larger if you wield them wisely. It's like a magic trick that defies logic and leaves your guests in awe.

A well-placed accent wall, proudly adorned in a deep and mysterious hue creates an illusion of grandeur and spaciousness. As the walls take a step back, don’t forget about the ceiling either. With a stroke of boldness, a dark color can make it soar higher than ever before. Even the floors can be benefit when the boundaries blur, extending the illusion of boundless space.

Though it’s considered extremely bold, charcoal is another excellent color to make a room feel bigger. For an excellent paint, select Benjamin Moore’s Kendall Charcoal. With its warm undertones, it can really do wonders for a small room, especially if it is North-facing and does not have a ton of natural light. To really get the illusion of a larger space, go all out and paint the ceiling and trim the same color. This will make it feel like it has more depth while adding a dramatic and intimate touch. If you’re scared of the color absence, don’t be! Brighten it up with furniture and accent pieces that fall within a lighter color scheme, such as whites, light blues, yellows, and even reds to give it a majestic feel.

Gray Beige Living Room

Gray Beige

Gray is the chameleon of the paint world, effortlessly adapting to various design styles. But beware, gray has a mischievous side—it can sometimes veer into moody territory. Keep an eye on its moods and make sure it aligns with the overall vibe you're aiming for.

Beige is the prodigal paint color making a triumphant comeback. Once considered a bit outdated, beige has risen like a phoenix from the ashes, capturing hearts with its easy to blend warmth and inviting nature. Gray and beige interiors are low-maintenance, and and provide a harmonious blend. The blend, called Greige, is an aesthetically pleasing balance that satisfies your design cravings without losing sleep over color dilemmas.

Benjamin Moore's Ashley Grey is a great paint for a room you want to look bright and spacious while also keeping things warm and comfortable. White is always a great choice to make a room feel larger, we admit it is less exciting than some other color options. That said, the taupe color feels very safe and allows for the space to be expansive with the reflections from the windows. Using different finishes (matte and satin) will also give some dimension to the space.

Ice Blue

In rooms where natural light is scarce, let me introduce you to the captivating power of an ice blue hue. This bold shade has the remarkable ability to create an illusion of depth, instantly transforming a space into a realm of drama and stateliness. It's like giving your room a touch of majestic allure. Striking the perfect balance between mystery and vibrancy, you can also consider keeping large furniture pieces, like sofas, in the same alluring hue. Blur the lines between the edges of the room, creating an optical illusion of grandeur and making the space feel larger than life. It's a secret weapon for square rooms with tall ceilings.

Benjamin Moore's Arctic Blue is a calming color that makes a room look bigger. The different undertones of this hue add a fresh and airy atmosphere to any small space. Great for the walls, you can also use it on your ceilings. The captivating depths of blue can have a transformative effect on your space. Embrace its ability to add depth, evoke romance, and blur or create the boundaries of your room. Get ready to create a haven of enchantment, where elegance meets the infinite possibilities of color.

Black

Black paint is best as an accent color to a space, like a hallway, stair rail, ceiling, breakfast nook, fireplaces, or doors. Painting a unique architectural feature black in a room adds dimension. Otherwise, the room could look and feel flat. This beautiful rich dark color draws the eye through the room which gives the appearance of a larger space.
